Background Information
Atlantic Canada is a small region in the eastern Atlantic coastal region of Canada
consisting of four provinces with the exclusion of Quebec province, New England State and the
Atlantic Ocean which borders Atlantic Canada. The four provinces are Prince Edward Island
having its capital headquarters at Charlottetown and with a population of 143,764 by the 2016
census. The other province is Newfoundland and Labrador having its capital headquarters at St.
John’s Town and Corner Brook respectively, and it has a total population of 521,564 as by the
2016 census. The other province is New Brunswick having its capital headquarters in Moncton
and has a population of 749,764 as by the 2016 census.
The last province is the Nova Scotia province which is the most populated province in
Atlantic Canada with a population of 932,536 by the 2016 census and having its capital
headquarters in Sydney and in Halifax Town. In total, Atlantic Canada has a population of over
2.3 million people by 2016. The total combination of the provinces yields a total GDP of over
