Coastal states depend highly on the ocean for their economies and way of life. Whether it is a highly industrialized and developed state or a developing state, their dependence on the ocean is critical. Please choose a coastal state of your interest and develop a “coastal state profile.” This profile must highlight why the ocean is important to that particular coastal state. The goal here is to provide a snapshot on why coastal states depend so much on the ocean. Discuss the most important coastal/ocean issues that your chosen coastal state is facing and how it is dealing with these issues. Formulate your own opinions and thoughts and analyze how successful or not successful the country is in dealing with these crucial issues. Also, do your best to offer possible solutions the coastal state should take, or even explore, when tackling these issues. This case study is not meant to give a generic profile of a country that you can find on Wikipedia. It is to provide insight on the coastal/ocean issues facing a particular coastal state. Be innovative and incorporate themes discussed throughout the course. Use various sources that help back your investigation and aid your own individual thoughts.
