Description

For this assignment, again, is beneficial that you keep the topic you would like to research for the capstone proposal in mind. The capstone will require a literature review for your proposal, of which you may use articles obtained during this course.

My topic: Increase in stress levels leads to a decline in health.

Select a peer-reviewed, non-experimental research study that exemplifies a correlational and quasi experimental design (use keywords method, results, and discussion in your Boolean search). These studies can be found using tools such as the GCU Library and Google Scholar.

Write a 500-750-word paper in which you:

  1. Compare the research design of the two studies chosen.
  2. Were the research designs appropriate to their hypothesis (the goal of the research or research question)? Why or why not
  3. Discuss the limitations of drawing conclusions from a non-experimental study.
  4. Did the study have a random sample? Were there other problems that were noticed

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

You are required to submit this assignment to Turnitin. Refer to the directions in the Student Success Center.

Note: Please have an excellent thesis along with a very good conclusion for this assignment. I will give you my GCU library login. If you do not know how to complete this assignment, please do not do it!! The reference page also needs to be excellent. I want only resources from the GCU library and no where else. Every resource needs to have a doi.

Comparing the non-experimental design and correlational design
Non-experimental design means there is a predictor variable or subjects in the research
that cannot be determined by the experimenter. Thus other ways must be used to conclude such
as case study, correlation, and survey. This method is used in various psychology researchers
since questions in this field do not lead themselves to experimental designs since questions have
independent variables that cannot be manipulated by the researcher. In the case of our
experiment, we are researching on the level of health about an increase in stress we cannot in
anyway vary the level of health as researchers. In this case, the researcher will only be in a
position to control the levels stress that is likely to change the health of individuals. It is
important to note that experimental designs are more powerful as compared to non-experimental
research designs. The non-experimental design gives us an option for pursuing important and
interesting questions in cases where we do not have experimental designs (Cook, Thomas, and
Donald, 2002).
On the other hand, there is the co-relational design a design that tends to establish if there
is a relationship between two variables. In this design, one determines if a decrease or increase in
one variable causes a change in another variable(Blundell, Richard, and Monica, 2000).In this
design, research can use a retrospective technique where one examines data that already exists or
prospective technique where one collects data for a period to record how levels of stress change
the levels of one's health (Cook, Thomas, and Donald, 2002).In our case, one corrects data on the
health level and changing levels of stress to determine an association between the two variables
of stress levels and health levels.

Thus non-experimental approaches evaluate the relationship between variables and use
random assignment while correlational approach evaluates the relationship between manipulated
variables and no random assignment is used.
Appropriateness of hypothesis to the design
Using the two research designs was appropriate to appropriate to the hypothesis as the
goal was of the research was used. In non-experimental design, the hypothesis was in
