PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Project Description
Project Scope
This project will consist of developing an integrated website that supports parcel delivery
process. The website will have a range of features designed to enable this process and ensure it is
completed as expected. A customer portal will be built to allow customers to log into the site,
create a profile, and send their parcels. Through the portal, the customers can fill out their details
and track their parcels. The website will provide features that will help both the administrators
and customers. The website will have an admin portal that will allow administrators to log in and
manage parcels, customers’ details, as well as confirm parcel delivery. All features will be
designed to be easy to use for all users. Also, documentation will be created to ensure users have
a good understanding of the system and its functions.
This project will be completed within five months. Modules of the website will include
customer portal, admin portal, Google Map integration, online payment features, online support
chat, mobile responsiveness, and data management features. These features will be vital in
helping stakeholders to monitor delivery of parcels to their destinations.

3.0 Company Background/Description
Over the time John has been working in a service delivery industry he has been able to identify an
opportunity in the neighborhoods states and town where he delivery some of the packages. This
enabled him to start thinking on how he can be able to come up with an effective delivery system
that serves its customer on time and one that uses modern technology to track the status of an
ordered package and customer payment. John eventually kicked off the idea of Sultan Package
Delivery Company (SPDC). SPDC was created with customer’s need in mind. This would ensure
that there is no customer who could raise any complain in relation to service delivery due to the
computerized service delivery. (Harrin, 2015).
SPDC as a company would act as an alternative to the area and would help the customer who
would like timely delivery and with a cost-effective service.
In john’s mind, the mode of operation would involve a customer signing up in the company’s
online portal and also indicating the potential time that he/she want the package taken and or
delivered .The customer would also indicate the potential time that he would be available .Other
than the pickup and delivery time .the customer would also ensure that he/she provide a detailed
information about himself .The customer information would include names, the physical address
and other vital information that ensure no package would be lost.
Once in the SPDC warehouse the package or parcel would be labelled with a barcode in order to
make the process of picking up and delivery a success. The package or a parcel would be scanned
using the barcode and the related information store in an efficient way. The bar scanner would also
be used to search the parcel during delivery time. (Harrin, 2017)
