Running head: Implementation of a Computerized package delivery system Design and Implementation of a Computerized Package Delivery System Harold Sanders MGT699 Capstone Project Grantham University Date: February 28, 2018 1 Implementation of a Computerized package delivery system 2 Table of Contents 3.0 Company Background/Description Over the time John has been working in a service delivery industry he has been able to identify an opportunity in the neighborhoods states and town where he delivery some of the packages. This enabled him to start thinking on how he can be able to come up with an effective delivery system that serves its customer on time and one that uses modern technology to track the status of an ordered package and customer payment. John eventually kicked off the idea of Sultan Package Delivery Company (SPDC). SPDC was created with customer’s need in mind. This would ensure that there is no customer who could raise any complain in relation to service delivery due to the computerized service delivery. (Harrin, 2015). SPDC as a company would act as an alternative to the area and would help the customer who would like timely delivery and with a cost-effective service. In john’s mind, the mode of operation would involve a customer signing up in the company’s online portal and also indicating the potential time that he/she want the package taken and or delivered .The customer would also indicate the potential time that he would be available .Other than the pickup and delivery time .the customer would also ensure that he/she provide a detailed information about himself .The customer information would include names, the physical address and other vital information that ensure no package would be lost. Once in the SPDC warehouse the package or parcel would be labelled with a barcode in order to make the process of picking up and delivery a success. The package or a parcel would be scanned using the barcode and the related information store in an efficient way. The bar scanner would also be used to search the parcel during delivery time. 6.0 Implementation Strategy
The implementation strategy for online parcel tracking system involves three steps:
1. Profile project: This step will focus on analyzing the project, determine what the system will
look like, its impact, people that will be involved in the project, and risks that may arise.
2. Decide approach: In this stage, the information collected in the first step will be leveraged to
identify implementation options suitable for the project. Phase approach is likely to be
considered as it allows sequential implementation of the project.
