Assignment # 2 Psychology and Culture
Interview
You are to interview someone from another culture. Ask them at least 10
questions. Be sure to expand on each answer and stay away from “yes” and “no”
questions please. You may have a casual structure for this assignment. For
example, after introducing the person you interviewed and where they are from,
please just state the question you asked in bold, or a different color font, then
state their response below it. Be creative with the questions you ask and Be sure
to add a conclusion, (see bottom of page).

When and where were you born? Explain in detail, for example, what part of the
country is it? How long were they there?
Ask about family life and how it differs from the United States......
Why did they you move here?
What was the most shocking when you arrived?
What is a change here that you like better?
What are some changes that you have a hard time with?
What are some basic differences here and where you are from?
What type of government is in your country and how did this affect your life?
What are some types of childhood games that are common?
What was your schooling like?
What types of things do you do to keep your culture alive while you are here?
Did you come alone or do you have other family members here?
What was the weather and terrain like where you are from?
Do you have plans to return and why?
How does the workforce, leisure time differ where you are from?
Are there any social expectations or customs that are different here?
You may ask any other question you feel is important. Also, they may be willing
to just share other information even without specific questions. If this is the case,
just take notes and add this to your paper.
Conclusion -
What did you learn from speaking to this person? Was your perspective
changed in any way? Were you surprised at any of the responses? Please
explain what you learned from this activity. Add this information to the bottom
of your interview.

Cultural Interview
For this activity, I got the chance to interview my roommate from Mexico. It was a good chance
to learn more about his culture and how the United States has affected him since coming to the
country.
1. Hello! What’s your name? Where and when were you born?
Hello, my name is Ramirez. And I was born in Mexico in 1990.
2. What was your first language? What language do you speak now?
My first language was Spanish the national language of Mexico. Currently, I mostly speak
English but alternate it with Spanish when speaking to my family and other Spanish speakers.
3. How closely do you associate and affiliate with your culture?
I closely associate myself with Mexican culture as it's prevalent in the United States. You can
easily find the culture through Mexican foods, clothing, and ceremonies such as Cinco de Mayo
which is my favorite.
