Registration and issuing of licensure to professional geologists, surveyors, and engineers
in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania are regulated by the State Registration Board for
Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists. The state regulates this to ensure
human health, life, and property welfare.
Steps and requirement to obtain a licensure in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania
In order to acquire licensure for professionals in engineering, there are steps and
requirement that need to be considered for one to become eligible. A candidate who has
completed Accredited Baccalaureate degree for at least two years will be now eligible to register
for fundamentals of engineering exams (FE). The exams are registered with National
Examination for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES). When a person has passed the
fundamentals of engineering exams they can now pursue Engineer –in-Training exams (EIT),
where they submit an application form to the State Registration Board for Professional
Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists. They then request the ABET Educational program
and National Examiners for Engineering and Surveying to send their official transcript to the
board.
