The school-to-prison pipeline. This means the policies and activities carried out in school
environment that directly and indirectly push students of color out of school and exposes them
prison that makes them exposed to harsh school discipline policies that can lead to suspension
and expulsion, increased policing and close observation that results to prison-like environments
in learning institutions, overdependence on documents that are used by schools detailing some
form of students' misbehavior thus listing the actions taken on the students and not fully
developed justice system, and then an alienating and punishable high-stakes testing-driven
academic environment.
The school-to-prison pipeline is caused by in-disciplinary cases in school which does not
favor anybody even if in the disability state. This places students into the criminal justice system
for minor offenses and matters that arise from disciplinary cases, exposing them to hostile
conditions involving punishments for misbehavior. The school-to-prison pipeline makes students
to be barred from progressing with their educational opportunities and life developments. All the
educators are responsible for ending the school-to-prison pipeline.
In essence, it is believed that a school must be a safe and conducive environment for
students, no biases should be noted, and focused on educational practices that target the whole
child and disciplinary necessity that stress on prevention and rehabilitation over punishment.
All educational employees must be entrusted with professional development on how to
deal with behavior, disciplinary cases, and conflict resolution. Both the academic professionals,
parents, and guardians should be trained on how to improve the behavior of the students to cut
the high rate of the school-to-prison pipeline.
