Aristotle and Plato
The two philosophers, Aristotle and Plato, had different views in interpreting personal
relationships. Despite their differences, they belived that we must balance our inner spiritual
welfare with the political life, which will enhance in improving our personal relationships.
Notably, these great men in philosophy, had great ideas in their lifetime, but still, there were
areas that they did not agree upon.
Both philosophers had different ideologies on the perspective of comfort brought by
politics. Aristotle states that the light of truth is found in the material world and each of us must
strive to find comfort in it (Rawls, 2009). He describes the politics and political community role
in conveying an honourable life to its citizens. His views on the well-being of the community
and the political class, that the community must participate actively in politics to be content
(achieving confort) and his views on what leads to and averts revolution within political
communities. This has been a motivation even in today’s politics and with those theorists that
fail to appreciate liberal politics promoted by John Stuart Mill the philosopher.
Plato, on the other hand, view politics and comfort as an exhibition of soul’ needs
(Singer, 2013). He believes that there is a desire by every human to attain spiritual truth which
transforms the world and illuminates our lives. He states that equity is the fundamental basis of
politics which it cannot last without. He states that the greatest danger in governance is state of
division.
The two philosophers are an important reference in the today's politics, both drawing
