The respiratory system of a human being is a crucial system in their bodies used for
breathing purposes. Respiratory diseases are harmful to the body and affect the whole breathing
process. Respiratory diseases are the infections that affect the breathing process especially the
organs that are responsible for air inhalation and exhalation. The nose, trachea, and lungs all get
affected by the respiratory diseases. An attack on the respiratory process by pathogens and other
harmful substances may cause complications that may be fatal. Care should, therefore, be
practiced by individuals who do not wish to succumb to the diseases that affect the system. An
example of respiratory disease is pneumonia that affects the lungs.
Pneumonia is a sickness that causes inflammation in air sacs found in the lungs. The
infection can either affect one lung or both. Pneumonia causes air sacs to be filled with pus that
is seen when coughing thus making breathing difficult. Organisms such as bacteria cause
pneumonia. This disease is dangerous to babies, people with a weak immune system, the aged
