GETTING STARTED

Open the file SC_PPT16_2b_FirstLastName_1.pptx, available for download
from the SAM website.

Save the file as SC_PPT16_2b_FirstLastName_2.pptx by changing the “1”
to a “2”.

not type it. The program will add the file extension for you automatically.
To complete this Project, you will also need to download and save the following

With the file SC_PPT16_2b_FirstLastName_2.pptx still open, ensure that
your first and last name is displayed in the presenter notes on Slide 1.

PROJECT STEPS
1.
You are enhancing a presentation for Terra Lustre Jewelry, a sustainable
jeweler that has adopted ethical production and hiring practices. To emphasize
its unique business, on Slide 2 (no title), insert a WordArt text box as follows:
a.
Use the Fill - White, Text 1, Outline - Background 1, Hard Shadow Background 1 WordArt style.
b.
Type Renewable Processes in the WordArt text box.
c.
Apply the Hard Edge Bevel text effect.
d.
Resize the WordArt text box so each word appears on a separate line as
shown in Figure 1 on the next page.
e.
Use Smart Guides to position the WordArt to the left of the bulleted list as
shown in Figure 1 on the next page.

With Slide 2 (“Renewable Processes”) still displaying, use the Format Painter to
apply the formatting from the text “Non-mined sources” to the text “Ecofriendly” and “Human-friendly”.

With Slide 2 still displaying, enter the following as a Slide note:
Member of the Responsible Gem Council

On Slide 3 (“Recycled Glass Art”), replace the picture of the jewelry with the
picture from the file Support_SC_PPT16_2b_Finishcut.jpg, available for
download from the SAM website, to better associate the “After” picture with the
“Before” picture.

On Slide 4 (“What Is Dichroic Glass?”), format the picture of the jewelry as
follows:
a.
Apply the Reflected Bevel, White picture style.
b.
Apply the Perspective Below 3-D Rotation picture effect.
6.
With Slide 4 still displaying, change the font of the text below the picture to
Candara.
7.
On Slide 5 (“Crafted from a Bottle”), format the slide background as follows:
a.
Insert the file Support_SC_PPT16_2b_Bottles.jpg, available for
download from the SAM website, as the slide background.
b.
Change the transparency of the background picture to 10%.

With Slide 5 still displaying, use the Thesaurus to replace the word “Bottle” in
the title with the first synonym beginning with the letter “c”.

To keep the presentation focused on jewelry, delete Slide 6 (“Also Made from
Recycled Glass”).

On the new Slide 6 (“Our Story”), format the picture of the jewelry as follows:

a.
Add a picture border using a ¾ pt. weight.
b.
Change the color of the picture border to Brown, Accent 1 (5th column,
1st row of the Theme Colors palette).
With Slide 6 still displaying, copy one of the rectangle shapes and paste it on
the same slide. Modify the pasted shape as follows:
a.
Change the text to the following:

b.
Use Smart Guides to position the “We see the future” rectangle beneath
the upper-right rectangle as shown in Figure 2 below.

With Slide 6 still displaying, insert a shape around the jewelry picture as
follows:
a.
Insert a Frame shape from the Basic Shapes section.
b.
Apply the Moderate Effect - Brown, Accent 1 shape style from the
Theme Styles section (2nd column, 5th row of the Theme Colors palette).
c.
Resize the frame shape to a height of 3.8" and a width of 5.2" as shown
in Figure 3.
d.
Use Smart Guides to position the frame shape as shown in Figure 3.

13.
To ensure your terms are clear to readers, find each instance of the word
“Remodeled” and replace it with the word Reclaimed. (Hint: Do not include the
period. You should make two replacements in the presentation.)
14.
Check the Spelling in the presentation to identify and correct any spelling
errors. (Hint: You should find and correct at least one spelling error.)
In Slide Sorter view, your presentation should look like the Final Figure on the following
page. Save your changes, close the presentation, and then exit PowerPoint. Follow the
directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.

On the new Slide 8 (“Retrofit Ideas”), italicize the text in the second bullet
point (“Throw some shade”) to draw attention to this suggestion.

Apply the Uncover transition with a duration of 00.25 seconds to all slides in
the presentation.
