How and when a screening is used
Screening is used when there is a risk factor for disease that affects large numbers of
individuals and has high costs associated with treating the condition. It is also used when medical
and health statuses are required in activities such as being employed. Screening is carried out in
various steps. The first one is pre-screening to find out if an individual fits the screening purpose
and is good to take part in the screening study. It involves the collection of general information
such as the name, age, general health information, and past medical history. The second step is
the screening appointment which is where the persons eligible for the screening are introduced to
the screening process and more of their information is collected for analysis.
The third step is the details verification where the identification details, dates of birth and
any other relevant details regarding an individual are collected. It is followed by the consenting
process where an individual reads and sings the consent form. Then there is the completion of
the paperwork where the individual gives information such as their contact information, physical
