The Criminal Justice Service (CJS) is a program provided by the Palm Beach County
government of Florida that consist of several programs, which are designed to increase the
access of citizens to justice by reducing the gap between them and the system. As an extension of
the Criminal Justice Commission (CJC), the CJS develops a program that serves as avenues for
bringing together major players and related agencies including vulnerable members of the
community such as children and the elderly. The mission of the CJS is to provide professional
assistance to both the Justice System and citizen of the country through various programs for
resolving specific issues that affect the different demographics of the community.
Regarding the attainment of the goals for its establishment, the Palm Beach County CJS
organized its services around the issues in the criminal justice system that affects children,
teenagers, and adults. Also, the several elements of the programs that consist of mentoring, legal
representation, counseling, and psychological testing and evaluation are designed to achieve
specific outcomes. These include crime prevention, child protection, and support system for
social issues. Meanwhile, an assessment of the specificity and measurability of the goals of the
CJS should include showed that the programs would result in the expected outcomes due to their
