Introduction
“Native Son” is a book divided into three aspects namely fear, flight, and the fate which
depict the final days of the book’s main character know as Bigger Thomas. The book is set in a
depressed mood with the protagonist Bigger who is aged twenty, a resident of Black Belt which
is a ghetto in Chicago that is predominantly occupied by blacks. In the book, avenging for the
wrongs of other people on a single person is going against not only Bigger’s rights but also the
rights for other people in the society. Therefore, from the analysis of Bigger Thomas as the main
character, it is concluded that determination without purpose as evidenced by Bigger should be
avoided without cost. Moreover, as portrayed by Wright (2016), Bigger Thomas is one example
of a person who lived without purpose and had negative aspirations in his life. Despite his poor
upbringing, this does not call for his behavior and hate towards other people in the society and
leading a crime life. Therefore, in this context, the essay seeks to explore the “Native Son” book
