The purpose of this assignment is for you to participate in an exit interview with the director of the center where you have been serving your internship this term. This assignment provides you with multiple opportunities that will be valuable in your professional career, as you will get to meet one-on-one with the center director to gauge your progress and successes throughout the term. This assignment also provides you with the opportunity to pilot your portfolio on a real center director and participate in a mock interview for a position you would like to obtain in your future career. Planning the Exit Interview

Consult with the center director about the purpose of this assignment. Tell him/her that you would like to schedule a one-hour meeting that has two main purposes:

  • To conduct a mock interview for the position that you would like to obtain in your professional career
  • To discuss your progress and successes over the course of the term

Ask if you can video record the interview. Also, ask the director if he/she would be willing to write an official letter of recommendation on your behalf for you to include in your own professional portfolio. Schedule the interview.

➢ After an extensive research was able to find out several reasons why Exit Interviews are
important as explained. The exit interviews are very important not only to childhood
education but all organizations. The exit interviews are important to both the director of
the child care center and to me. The first reason is because it gives a platform for the
director and me to leave each other in good terms. It also gives a room for me to explain
the reason as to why I will be leaving to avoid any grudges and to clear things up. The
director will be able to learn several tips that would help in improving the child care
center like the strengths of the child care center. As a director, the chance of confirming
the different skills, attributes and experience that are needed for the job. Finally, the
