American literature is mostly associated with an academic context. This is because it
refers to the work of history, fiction, and even philosophy. All these fields have been studied by
generations thus they shape our thought's foundations. Despite the fact that literature
incorporates all written works, it has never been more relevant than the current internet age
which has made a written word to be more democratic and accessible than ever before. It is,
however, worth to note that the internet age is brought about by literature. This work is therefore
meant to look at what American literature should do to succeed in the current internet age.
Over the past decades, literature is said to have contributed to the rising accessibility of
devices like smartphones and tablets in the internet age. These electronic devices are not only
cheaper but also universal. Newspaper subscription, book sales, and magazines have diminished,
but people's appetite for information has become more impetuous and larger. For literature to
succeed completely in ensuring everybody has access to these devices, the government should
equip school libraries with these devices.
