providers. Patients have the autonomy to make health care decisions independently irrespective of
the advice they receive from their healthcare providers. However, the health practitioner has a
responsibility of ensuring that the patient is thoroughly informed about the available alternative
approaches (Brabers et al., 2017). One way that the relationship influences the patient's decision
is by providing relevant, sufficient, material healthcare information. Once patients are informed,
they are able to make well-informed decisions.
Healthcare providers have the responsibility of informing the patients of their healthcare
rights. Some patients are unaware of their autonomy in matters pertaining to their own healthcare.
Consequently, they imagine they have no say in what treatment alternatives the healthcare
providers pursue to remedy their situation. In such instances, it is the responsibility of the
healthcare provider to inform the patient about their rights in making their own healthcare choices
as long as they are of sound mind and have attained the legal age limit. On this basis, it is plausible
