Description

Read "Students' Characteristics, Self-Regulated Learning, Technology Self-Efficacy, and Course Outcomes in Online Learning," located in this week's Electronic Reserve Readings.

The article supports the idea that students with prior online learning experience have more effective learning strategies to apply to future online studies than those with no prior online learning experience. They also had higher levels of motivation for courses, and increased technology self-efficacy.

Given these results, apply the learning-cognitive theories of personality to explain these findings.

Select two theoretical approaches to learning from any of the behavioral, cognitive and constructionist views.

Write a 1,050- to 1,400-word paper in which you combine the principles of the theory to explain how a student's increased online learning experience can lead to a demonstration of more effective learning strategies, higher levels of motivation, and increased technology self-efficacy. Address the following:

  • Identify the synergy between personality development and student learning behavior.
  • Differentiate between two theoretical approaches, and discuss how each one supports effective learning strategies, increases motivation for learning, and enhances technology self-awareness.
  • Apply each theoretical approach to an example of student learning.

Include a reference page with a minimum of three additional peer-reviewed sources.

Format your paper according to APA guidelines.

You must also use the textbook as one of the references.

Personality Theory Analysis
For a long time, those who study human behavior have held a conclusion that people
engage in those things which bring about pleasure and avoid those things that bring about penalty.
The question then that has troubled philosophers for a long time has been where motivation comes
from and how people learn. The same has been the case with Albert Bandura and also Frederic
Skinner. The work of the two regarding personality study and learning process has shed light on
the understanding of the way people develop their personality and the way they learn about new
information. Work from both Bandura (The Social Cognitive Theory) and Skinner (Behavioral
theory) could also shed light into the knowledge of the way an increased online student learning
could result into the demonstration of learning strategies that are pre effective, the way it could
lead into high levels of motivation and enhanced technology self-efficacy.
The Synergy between Personality Development and Student Learning Behavior
Zig Ziglar states that when one is not willing to learn, then no one can help them. He goes
further and says that when one is determined to learn, then no one can stop them. The words are
quite powerful; they strengthen the common saying that knowledge is power and learning is a
journey to understanding. In everything that we do, we learn every day. According to Bandura,
human beings have the flexibility of learning in diverse situations; he places more emphasis ...
