1. There are several factors that can contribute to the likelihood of a child experiencing
bullying. Some of the most common contributors include students from low income
families, minority students, and other less “popular” students. Girls are generally more
likely to experience cyberbullying than boys, while boys are more likely to participate in
physical bullying, such as fighting, than girls.
2. Because a large amount of bullying occurs in schools, it is the responsibility of schools to
make changes that will help to stop bullying. First and foremost, schools need to take
reports of bullying seriously. It is not uncommon for administrators to ignore reports of
bullying in today’s schools until the problem has gotten out of hand. Administrators need
to pay attention to any bullying scenario that they are made aware of, put in the effort to
learn as much about the incident(s) as possible, and impose consequences. Most schools
