A person should sleep for an average 8 hours a day. In children, the time should be
higher, and reduces as one grows older. Lack of sufficient sleep, or not sleeping at all, is a
common problem in life, affecting many individuals at some point in their lives. Young adults
and children are more vulnerable to sleep deprivation while the older people seem to be more
resistant. Lack of sleep, like any other issue, has root causes. Lack of sleep is a serious
problem because it affects learning, causes health and physical abnormalities and is highly
associated with mental health concerns such as stress (Broman and Jerker 37).

Causes
Obstructive sleep apnea is one of the major causes of lack of enough sleep. It refers to
a disorder in which an individual breathing starts and stops during sleeping. It occurs because
