Simple Access task
Question Description
Database Concepts Using Microsoft Access
This week you begin the design of your family reunion database, based on some of the needs and requirements you determined last week. You will define specific entities and attributes that you want to include, and you will use these to create a conceptual model. The conceptual model is the first of three phases in creating a relational database. In the following units, you will expand the conceptual model to a logical model and finally to a physical model. The creation of this simple personal database prepares you to design a conceptual model in the business world.
Instructions
Scenario: Using the same scenario from Unit 1, you are going to be in charge of your family reunion this year, and you have decided to set up a database to hold all your family information.
Using your favorite drawing program, you will create a conceptual model of your family database using at least two tables.
Identify the entities and attributes for your conceptual model. Identify the relationships between the entities.
You will compose a paper explaining why a high level conceptual model is needed. Explain how you derived your conceptual model. Include both a drawing of your conceptual model and an explanation of how you identified your entities and relationships.
Here are the paper requirements:
APA format which includes a title page, reference page, and at least 2 pages for the body of the paper.
The paper must be written in your own words. You are encouraged to read the assigned readings first to gain valuable insight for your paper. If you elect to include some material from the Web, it must be properly referenced via APA standards.
Written Assignment Requirements:
Written work should be free of spelling, grammar, and errors. Points deducted from the grade for each writing, spelling, or grammar error are at your instructor’s discretion.
Please be sure to visit the Writing Center in the library to find resources to assist you in meeting APA expectations.
