The stomach is a muscular organ that lies between the esophagus and the small intestine
in the upper abdomen. The stomach receives food from the esophagus through the stomach
muscles that contracts periodically. The stomach stores the food and produces acid and enzymes
that helps the chemical process of breaking down of food. Stomach is affected by various
diseases among them is stomach cancer which occurs in the stomach lining, a common bacteria
H. Pylori is believed to cause stomach cancer (Furness 32-34). Stomach cancer causes
indigestion, loss of appetite and severe pain. People with high risk of getting the stomach cancer
are smokers, obese people, people who consume a diet that is salty, and smoked. The disease is
preventable through healthy eating and good lifestyle choices (Nardone and Debora 256).
