Introduction
Criminology is a discipline utilized in an attempt to assess, control and manage public
law and order. This process ensures that people act and behave in ways which do not infringe on
the welfare of other people. Failure to follow the stipulated order in a community results in
consequences which are covered in the civil and the criminal law.
The Differences in Civil and Criminal Law
In the United States, there exist two main bodies which have the mandate of taking
actions against those individuals who fail to follow the provisions of the law. They are the same
bodies with the mandate of compensating those individuals who happen to be the victims of the
perpetrators. Civil law, for instance, refers to the type of law which is mainly concerned with the
behavior of a given person which leads to injuries to a private party (Patarro, 2016). In other
words, civil law can be thought of as the rules and regulations whose endeavor is to protect
citizen’s rights. It is also helpful in solving legal disputes between or among individuals.
