One of the controversial issues that have obtained divergent ideologies is the aspect of
capital punishment. While some people propose the ideology of capital punishment, others refute
the perspective by denoting that the practice of death penalty or capital punishment undermines
the rights of people. Capital punishment is used to refer to the practice of offering death
punishment to an individual whom is involved in a particular offense (Anderson, Lytle and
Schwadel, 2017). The practice of capital punishment has been used widely to inflict punishment
on people who commit particular offenses. Human life is considered sacred and therefore
delineating the life of an individual is presumed to be a criminal offense. Despite the fact that
some individuals support the act of capital punishment among the offenders, I presume that
capital punishment is a vice that should not be tolerated in the prevalent society. Capital
punishment should be condemned as it violates human rights.
One of the reasons for opposing the aspect of capital punishment is that it is administered
unfairly. Most of the studies have demonstrated that the number of minorities who receive
capital punishments is higher as compared to the individuals who fall under the majority or the
high-class level (Jones, J2017). In some cases, the application of capital punishment is based on
the financial status of the individual, the background of an individual and the skills that are
possessed by the prosecuting judge. Research studies have also affirmed that in the United States
the individuals from the minority settings are more likely to be executed as compared to the
white counterparts (Upton, Carwile and Brown, 2017). This postulation gives an implication that
the practice of capital punishments is applied unfairly and therefore it should not be accepted in
the society. Additionally, capital punishment may result in the execution of the individuals who
have nor committed the crimes.
