Introduction
While conflict and competition between employees can be a sign of healthy competition,
persistence and non-resolved conflict can affect organizational productivity. Its important to
ensure conflict between employees is effectively resolved to avoid any negative effect which
could affect the productivity of the overall organization.
Different between Competition and Conflict
In spite of the fact that conflict and competition are dissociated or disintegrative social
process, they are different in their functions, types, and nature. Unlike conflict, competition is
continuous and never seem to end and commonly referred to “a never-ending social process”
(Hartard, S., & Liebert, 2014). Moreover, one of the attributes of competition is its unconscious
nature. Individuals or groups involved in the competition are in most cases not aware of it. Their
primary focus is the prize or the reward they will get after the end of the day.
