The PRICA self-assessment test and the GENE Scale did previously have greatly
helped construct and understand my worldview on cultural matters and assert the degree of
my cultural communication competence. James (2012) argues that an intercultural proficient
communicator is one who is knowledgeable, motivated and skilled in communicating and
demonstrates sensitivity to the context in which communication occurs. I have learnt that the
reason why sometimes I get apprehensive during intercultural communication processes is
that I fear that any information passed across may be viewed out of context, far from what I
