Advanced > RGB, Raster = High (300PPI) 3 Use ONLY shape tools to create a new EMOJI that depicts an icon, trend, or event of your choice. You might consider broad topics (Ex. Politics, Water Use, Climate Change), historical events (the moon landing, the fall of Rome), pop culture (drones, hashtags). The emoji should strive to avoid being overly simplistic or generic. (No Stroke Attributes, or strokes of any kind in the first version of the Emoji.) 4 While building your symbols, incorporate the use of: DEMO A. Shape tools (Rectangle, Rounded Rectangle, Ellipse, Polygon, Star) (0:25) DEMO B. Shape Modes and Pathfinder operations (0:39) DEMO C. Gradients (linear or radial) (1:35) DEMO 5 Select > All, Object > Group. (3:38) DEMO 6 Use the Align Panel to center the group horizontally and vertically to the artboard. (0:17) 7 Duplicate the artboard. 8 Create a second version using ALL tools covered so far, this variant should be slightly different in color, form, and meaning. Example: happy poo emoji vs. angry poo emoji. (This second Emoji can have strokes of all kinds.) 9 Select paths that have strokes applied to them and expand them (Object> Expand) to create new paths with only fills (no strokes). 10 Group and Align the second emoji to the second artboard. 11 Save the file as an .AI using the following naming conventions: emoji_lastname.ai. Example: emoji_tam.ai 12 Create two .PNG files of your emojis by going to File> Export. Select .PNG from the format options and check the box next to "Use Artboards." In the .PNG Options window, set the resolution to High (300PPI), the anti-aliasing to "Art Optimized (Supersampling)" and the Background to "Transparent." 13 Upload the .AI and BOTH .PNG files associated with this assignment to your section’s dropbox before the beginning of your lab section.
