Unit 7 Discussion - All About Eastern Cultures ● ● ● ● For this unit’s discussion, find an article in a professional journal or book, or from a reliable webpage. The article has to relate to any culture within the Eastern or Middle Eastern oriented cultures and be tied to one of the following themes: gender issues, mental health, religious intolerance, disabilities, ethical codes, Sexuality (heterosexuality, homosexuality, bisexuality, transsexuality) If the article is NOT online, please submit a scanned copy of the article If the article is online, provide the link in your initial posting. Along with your link, provide the following: ● A summary of the article you chose (e.g., hypothesis, results) ● A statement on why you chose that particular culture ● An explanation of how you think this information can help you in your practice of psychology. Students should also provide at least an additional reliable web link about the culture to their peers so that they can learn more about the culture chosen. Note: Some Eastern cultures include: Central Asia, Eastern Asia such as India, China, Korea; Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, etc; aboriginal Australia and parts of Russia). Some Middle Eastern cultures include Western Asia; Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Africa. Online Discussion Rubric: 1. Initial posts are due time-stamped by 11:59pm, Central Time, Wednesday. 2. Two (2) points per day will be deducted for late initial posts, as this has an adverse impact on the quality of the discussion and on the learning community. 3. Posting replies on Thursday and Friday of the week is a good practice; any later than Saturday has an adverse impact on the quality of the learning community. Posting all or the majority of your replies on the last day of the week will result in decreased points due to the fact that you have not been effective in participating in the discussion across the week.
