Assignment: Research one security topic related to “Student Learning Outcomes.” The security topic chosen by you must be cleared by me before you begin work on the assignment. The paper will reference at least three (3) sources, other than your textbook (do not use “popular” magazines). Three (3) pages of content, double-spaced, plus a cover page and bibliography are required. Papers will follow APA format and style guidelines. The maximum number of points available for this assignment is 100. Content accounts for 50% of your grade. Structure and Grammar account for 25% each. Please review the grading rubric on page two. Purpose: The purpose of this writing assignment is to test your ability to identify, research, and appropriately describe one key security concept. Knowledge of key security concepts are important to understand: 1. Key historical developments in security. 2. Differences between security and law enforcement roles. 3. Laws applicable to security issues. 4. Ways to prevent or reduce loss. 5. Techniques of inner/outer defense protection and access control. Criteria for Success: Your research paper topic must be emailed to me for approval no later than February 28. A successful research paper will contain a title page and reference page. Three or more sources, other than your textbook, must be used for research. Ensure you use complete sentences and paragraphs are well-developed, college-level work. The topic must be thoroughly discussed, allowing you to demonstrate adequate knowledge of the concept. The paper will display good use of standard written English. Spelling, grammar, and APA style will be appropriate. Content (50%), structure (25%), and mechanics (25%) will be graded on a 0 -100-point scale. A copy of the grading rubric is on page 2. Security in most countries around the world is provided by both public and private
security firms. The public security firms are not necessarily firms but the various security
departments of the government. They provide security to the citizens, their homes, businesses
and other properties owned by the citizens. The primary security in most countries is provided by
the different security departments of the government. Private security firms offer secondary
security that complements the primary security provided by the government security
departments. Generally, public security departments offer public security which is aimed at
protecting everything within a country. Private security firms offer private security which is
