Formal Analysis of Samson Movie
Introduction
Samson movie is based on a biblical Story about a Hebrew who had supernatural
strength. The movie, which was directed by Bruce MacDonald and Gabriel Sabloff, is a religious
epic released in 2018. It shows Hebrews` enslavement by the Philistines who are led by King
Balek. The only hope that the Hebrew have is Samson who was prophesied to set his people free
using his supernatural strength. Samson rather chooses to lead a pious life that forbids the
drinking of alcohol, touching dead bodies and cutting his hair. He believed in peace rather than
war. However, after his father is killed by prince Rallah, the son of King Balek, he kills over a
thousand philistine soldiers using a donkey`s jawbone and accepts to lead the people. He later
falls prey of Delilah’s seductive tactics and she ferrets out his weakness. Prince Rallah is,
therefore, able to conquer him. However, He prays God to grant him strength which he uses to
destroy philistines and sets his people free from slavery. Director Bruce and Gabriel employ
mise en scene, angles, sound, color, and editing effects throughout the movie to show that
