It provides an opportunity for students from different cultural backgrounds to perform and display their traditional practices. The Saudi Culture is one of the great cultures showcased during the event. The event provided the best opportunity to highlight Saudi history, types of food and songs. I was born and raised in Saudi Arabia and acquired the traditional and cultural practices through the interaction with the members of the Saudi state. Growing up in Saudi made me be aware of the boundaries and the norms of my Middle Eastern culture. Also, we have shown the visitors to the international day event more about our history and pictures of the kings of the royal family and we have explained to them how we named it Saudi Arabia which the name of the country, Saudi Arabia, links Al Saud, the ruling dynasty with the state’s geographic and cultural setting and more about our dominant traditional activities include fishing, farming, artisanship, long-distance trade, and merchant. Saudi is the home to Medina (al-Madinah) and Mecca (Makkah) that influences the religious beliefs of the individuals in the region (Al Alhareth et al., 122). As Islamic faithful, we conduct daily rituals that form the five pillars of the Islamic religion. As a child growing up in Saudi, the five rituals we Alyafie 2 participated in include praying while facing Mecca, performing the haj, visits to the Medina, fasting during the day during Ramadan which was very impressive for other cultures to get to know of. In the event, we had one of the Saudis that was writing people’s name on their hand with a black marker and educate them with vocabulary. Many of the visitors thought Persians is pretty similar to Arabic. However, we vary. We use Arabic as the primary language in the country. About half of the immigrants and the entire Saudi Arabia population use Arabic as the first language. During religious rituals, lectures, broadcasts, poetry, written communication and speeches, classical Arabic assists in conveying the information. Others use colloquial Arabic when conversing. English is the second language we used. In addition,We showed the visitors some of our tradition of marriage which was kind of strange to them specially that Saudi marriage we practice marriage between tow patrilineal cousins. Customary, the potential spouses should not meet until after the wedding ceremony. The customary laws prohibit us from meeting with the spouse before the wedding night. In Saudi, our fathers, relatives, and mothers arrange for the marriages. We have provided food for visitors and we showed them that food plays a significant role in the preservation, conservation, and protection of the Saudi culture. As children, we depended on the stable foods within the Saudi economy for survival. Foods such as camel, dates, goats, cheese, ghee and cow's milk form the stable foods in the country. Bread, barley, millet, eggplant, squash, pumpkin, onions, fish, beans, and leeks are. At the end of the night, we performed the Mizmar which was intertying for the audience. Mizmar is today a popular dance among the Saudi people. While performing, I had a felt of pleasure and happiness and I wish that I can attend more cultural events so I can teach others about our culture.
