1) Length of homework.
I would say that each question must be answered in a complete way. You need to explain concepts usually taken from the readings. Each answer needs its own room to really explain and develop the idea that is being asked. You are not going to answer one question in 5 lines. If you need to write a whole page, just go ahead and do it. Same can be said about the second questions, which is totally focused on the reading. It is very important to attentively read the questions. Usually, they contain several ideas, components, or elements. You need to address each one. All this work will allow you to have material already written for your essays. Complete, well argued, and well written homework helps a lot for the essays.
2) You don't have to answer the whole viewing guide. Not at all. There are 2 specific questions per film that must be answered and submitted.

1) The film has a narrator in first singular person: Daigo Kobayashi, the main
character. Why is his narration important to understand the story told in the film?
Narration is important in enabling one to be able to understand the story being portrayed
in the film since, it provides consensual codes as well as values through plot lines that enables
the viewer to be able to understand the connection that exists between the characters’ past and
their present. Addition, the narration enables the audience to be able to see the eye view of the
fictional world in the narrators mind. However this is limited to the awareness and experiences
that the narrator has undergone with regard to the true state of affairs.
2) Comment about the contrast between Tokyo and Daigo’s hometown in the
countryside.
In the movie Tokyo carrier opportunities between Tokyo and Daigo’s hometown which is in the
country side differ. This is in relation to the fact that, in Tokyo talent matters for one to be able to
get a job. On the other hand in the countryside, one can get a job even without talent nor skills to
be able to handle the Job. Additionally, after being offered the Job, Daigo expected his salary to
be quite little before being offered a bigger one. This clearly shows that life at the country sides
is quite cheaper in comparison to life in Tokyo which requires one to have an 18 million yen
cello for them to have a chance of making it in life.
3) Comment about the ritualistic nature of the film. Pay special attention to the art
of Nokanshi or“encoffineer.” The preparation of deceased bodies for burial and “a
peaceful departure” is very prevalent in Takita’s film. Describe the ritual for washing and
preparing the dead for encoffinment. How does this ritual set a bridge ...
