Evidence based practice (EBP) can be described as an approach where clinical decision
making is informed by research evidence, it leads to the provision of good patient care through
the incorporation of the best research available. Individual patients’ circumstances and beliefs
are considered by practitioners in delivering health care and the most authoritative and best
evidence is determined through the use of hierarches of evidence. Population groups tend to have
genetic differences which make some diseases more prevalent in specific ethnic groups. Health
