Introduction
Frankly, before the research on the second part of the assignment, it had not struck as
hard that evil dietary plans in public schools can cause such damage to the young population.
The paper to be discussed and constructed is sad, but more precisely it's a horror movie. If this is
happening in any school across America, it should stop. The thesis of this paper is collected from
the earlier paper will proceed to form precedence, and it states. Therefore, public schools should
be required to change the food regulations. They give their students and start offering well
prepared, tasty, high-quality meals that contain equal portions of proteins, carbohydrates, fats,
and vitamins. Further, schools should consult a professional nutritionist that will advise them on
the best meals to cook and how they should be served.
Commonly schools are serving chips, cookies, and fries to a child which, is junk food and
neglects essential aspects of the diet such as vegetables and fruits. The paper is focusing on
public elementary, middle schools and high school individuals that are considered as children
and adolescents. This work will elaborate three problems that are intertwined with this
behaviour, and they are obesity, physical and mental degradation.
Problem Discussion
1: Obesity
The aim of this paper is not to start a blame game but to ignite thoughts into causal
relationships that tend to make public schools offer junk food to their students. Obesity is a

condition of the body where the body mass index is above the normal, which is 28. It is a state of
being overweight (Hefti, 2009). It is estimated that a third of the children and adolescents in
America are obese and although the government has regulated the number of calories that should
be in a meal, the students have the option of buying junk from the school.
Since the 1980s there has been a significant increase of obese children and adolescents,
effects of which can be traced from what they consume within the corridors of learning
institutions. Research provided by Patricia Anderson and Kristin Butcher state that the increasing
state of obesity among children is caused by the schools lacking funding in many sectors of the
institution. In their working paper 11177 NBER, it states that the amount of revenue collected
from the sale of junk food within a learning organization can fund many of the activities
necessary to run the school. It brings another problem or question: is the government
underfunding public schools and making them incapable of sufficiently financing their budget?
2: Physical Degradation
Obesity is not the only material effect of eating junk food; research states that a child or
adolescent that overeats sugar, fat, sodium, or processed food and pays no attention to foods rich
in vitamins and minerals is at a higher risk of developing chronic illnesses. Why? The body of
such individual does not have enough vitamins to enable their organization to fight off diseases
since their bodies are weak. Further, from this, children that don't eat enough vegetables or fruits
are likely to suffer from diseases such as diabetes, kidney stones, bone loss, cancer, and heart
diseases.
Research has also proven that children and adolescents that are exposed to foods rich in
sugar are at risk of their brain changing their chemical composition and in cases where, they

cannot get the sugar they end up being depressed and suffer from withdrawal symptoms. At the
University of Montreal where the above test was conducted on mice, it proved that when the
sugar diet was removed the mice started suffering from withdrawal symptoms. In humans, the
effects are much worse since it causes people not to know how to deal with stress and being
addicted to sugar (Lawford, 2013).
3: Mental Degradation
Current epidemiological data show that 20% of children and adolescents suffer from
mental health issues and over 50% of the problems take flight in the adolescent age bracket
(McMurray & Clendon, 2011). The research is blunt and alarming, and it states that the
adolescence age is where mental disorders symptoms begin to emerge. “When” they do it is far
too late to change the course of the disease. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates
that by the year 2020 mental health problems, especially in young people, would be a crucial
health problem in the world. Mostly observed in the western nations, the intake of foods such as
red meat and beverages rich in sugar and fatty fast foods is closely identified with a lower
Intelligence Quotient (IQ) causing decreased mental stability, health and behaviour.
In a research conducted on over thirteen thousand students between the ages of six and
eighteen proves that intake of junk food has a relationship to mental problems such as violence,
and psychiatric distress. The study further confirmed that consumption of confectionary foods
such as sweetened soft drinks, sweets, soft drinks, chocolate, fast foods are related to issues that
include anxiety, dizziness, and like feelings worthless. Public schools are indeed creating a
problem that is slowly eating up the society and creating individuals who cannot be able to
handle the day to day hardships. If schools don't change their dietary plans and include more

fruits and vegetables into their meals, the work they are doing teaching kids will go down the
drain.
Conclusion
Checking on the entire analysis, it is true that paper brings to light what the community
sees as acceptable, fun, and classy and discourages it since it is the cause of stupidity, illnesses,
failure, and death of a society (Robbins, 2011). However, much that would like to be blamed to
the schools would also like to shed light on the bad parenting. Arguably, guardians are the ones
responsible for giving their children the money to buy lunch at the dining hall since they would
like their kids to fit in with all the rest. Schools want to make money so that they can finance
essential school activities and sadly also line their pockets in the process.
Having checked and analyzed on that, it is wise to be given a solution that it is wrong
what is being done to the younger generation. It is good not to do this but do what is
recommended by our leaders since of the board are bold by constitutional laws.
