Question description

Nice start to your thesis and outline for the Week 5 Geology Project Assignment – Thesis and Outline on planetary volcanism. However the thesis needs work – it needs to be a complete and independent sentence presenting your topic without “I will discus…” or “This paper will cover..” – stick with direct statements and I, we, you our, etc. cannot be used in this paper as it is in third person (review paper guidelines). (-5 points).

As for the outline, you have some good facts to start your paper with but they are not in the outline format requested in the assignment – thus please put your work in the outline (-15 points). Please rework the thesis and outline, and resubmit by Friday 5/18/18 11:59pm CST for additional consideration.

the format should look like this, I gave this to one tutor here already which didnt get me good grades please just put my thesis and outline in this format it is that simple

  1. THESIS - Your thesis is the main point you want to make about a geologic topic, in a complete and independent sentence.

Fine-Tuning Your Thesis

Adapted from the Pocket Wadsworth Handbook by Laurie G. Kirszner and Stephen R. Mandell, stated in Angel under “Lessons” tab, “Course Materials” and then “Thesis.”

Topic Area (too general)
Earthquakes

Tentative Thesis (rough, vague) Based on Topic
Earthquakes cause a lot of damage.

Final Thesis (more precise)

Earthquakes can result in ground displacements, landslides, liquefaction, Tsunamis, and fires.

here it is with example

Fine-Tuning Your Thesis

Adapted from the Pocket Wadsworth Handbook by Laurie G. Kirszner and Stephen R. Mandell

Topic Area (too general)
volcanoes
Tentative Thesis (rough, vague) Based on Topic
volcanoes cause a lot of damage.
Final Thesis (more precise)
Earthquakes can result in ground displacements, landslides, liquefaction, seiches, Tsunamis, and fires.
Or (better yet)
Earthquakes cause Tsunamis, which result from a large displacement of the seafloor during submarine faulting - either dropping or rising. Focus will be in the area of Japan.
Note how this final thesis provides you with the sharpest focus that enables you to "dig deeper" rather than "throw dirt around a broad area."
