Foxconn Case
The first impression by reading this case was that Foxconn was one bad place one could
ever work for. The picture painted by the initial reading is that Foxconn does not care about their
employee wellbeing. It also brought the idea that the company has no respect for the employees
and that their main objective was to make a higher profit and misuse the employee. The rate of
suicide among the employees and the confidence they have to commit mass suicide is saddening.
High degree of stereotype played a significant role in the perception indicated above.
The additional information helped me understand the reason for the organizational
behavior and the reason why the employee faced a hard time in the organization. Additional
information provided vast information about the organizational behavior and the borrowed
culture from the headquarters. As a result, I understand why the company provided the worst
working condition in the USA. This is the notion that both environments are the same hence it
should be treated identically the same. Therefore, the additional information created an
understanding of why the employees in the USA threaten to commit suicide and complain about
their salaries and working conditions.
Employee isolation and staying away from the family cause distress and emotional
burden. This affects their performance as well as increases the chances of committing suicide. To
solve this issue, the company should acknowledge the difference existing between the two
countries that is USA...
