1 What is The Quantum mechanic mode?

2 Why do you think we spend so much time discussing electrons and valence electrons in particular? Why are they so important in understanding chemical reactions?

3 What is the Bohr model ?

4 Why is it important to understand how electrons fill in the space around the nucleus? How does that help us understand the behavior or atoms?

1. The quantum mechanics mode is one of the models used in describing atomic structures
today. Matter is anything that occupies space and has mass, in quantum mechanics,
matter has wave properties. Based on the theory it is not exactly possible to determine the
position and momentum of an electron concurrently. This is the Uncertainty principle of
the theory. The model uses electron clouds which are complex orbit shaped and the
volume likely to be occupied by an electron. The model is based on probability. Four
numbers describe the electron orbital and their characteristics.
2. Electrons are negatively charged and are found in the nucleus of an atom. Valence
electrons are found in the outermost energy level of an electron. When a reaction occurs,
the valence electrons are majorly involved, for example a reaction between potassium
and water, Potassium has one valence electron which is lost during the reaction in order
to gain stability. For elements in group 1 to 3, t...
