Describe, using as much detail as possible, how you plan to conduct your research project.

Remember, the purpose of this assignment is for you to examine a possible correlation between at least two variables - your main topic, and cultural variables such as age or gender identity. You are not here to passionately argue for or against an idea, but rather to make an unbiased, scientific observation.

Your proposal should include:

1- Topic and variables: You must clearly identify your main topic and cultural variables, and define each of those terms.

2 - State a hypothesis. This is a predictive statement of the expected results of your survey or observation.

3 - Describe the method of study: Explain how you will gather data, and include a full copy of your survey questions and answers. Include an active link to your survey.

4 - References:

You should have already started reading and researching your topic. Include full citations for any articles you plan to include in your paper. You may include popular news sources, but you must also include at least three academic studies in your Rough Draft Literature Review. (You do not have to include the Literature Review in this assignment, just the citations). Include references to any sources you plan to use. You need at least one reference included in this proposal.

Proposal Example-2 Topic and Variables I propose to study stress and age. The main topic will be stress (specifically distress, or the experience of negative emotions including pain, sorrow, anxiety, frustration, and suffering of the mind or body) and the variable will be age. I will also examine gender as a variable. Hypothesis I predict that younger and middle-aged adults will report higher levels of stress than older adults. This might be because of busy school and work schedules, financial difficulties, or interpersonal relationships. Method I will distribute a survey to at least 200 people between the ages of 18-70. Questions will be designed to indicate the general level of stress in a person’s life, and will be answered using a numbered scale of 1-5 to indicate intensity. The survey will be created using Google Forms, and informed consent will be obtained from all participants. I will attempt to include roughly equal numbers of men and women in each age group. Participants will be recruited via personal contacts through email, social media, and the MJC student body. Survey questions (draft): (Informed consent) This survey is for educational purposes, no personal information will be collected or shared beyond the confines of my Human Lifespan Development class at Modesto Junior College. Your responses are completely anonymous. You must be at least 18 years old to participate, and you may withdraw your participation at any time.
