Organizational Climate

The term organizational climate (organizational culture) has been defined as “the shared meaning organizational members attach to the events, policies, practices and procedures they experience and the behaviors they see being rewarded, supported and expected” (Ehrhart, Schneider, & Macey, 2014, p. 69).

For this paper we have selected the Hyatt Hotel based on the Fortune 100 best companies to work for and provide information regarding its climate regarding organizational behavior. The information provided will take a look into ways that the Hyatt displays positive organizational behavior and how it is demonstrated and if the behavior is encouraged. Lastly, there will be a peer review to determine if adequate information has been determined to support the research provided.

Organizational Climate
Bechtel is one of the 100 list of companies. I have choose this certain company because
it has a practice of encouraging the best instead of discouraging the worst. It engages employees
in positive talks and encourages the virtuous behavior than discouraging the unethical behavior.
The main reason for this is their approach of delivering values for the customer and maintains a
positive organizational behavior in the company. The company is known for its customer centric
services to their clients and this can only be possible if the employees of the company are
performing their role sincerely (Ehrhart, Schneider, & Perry, 2011).There is positive experience
of the employee that is most important part of establishing a good organizational environment.
The environment of the company is abounding of motivation and productivity. The company is
framing the simple task as valuable and meaningful so that both customer and employee feel
important in the company. The company is using a bill board at the client meeting room and
requests the visiting clients to write their feedback about the company’s product and services.
These inspirational notes from the clients give employees a perspective on their work and a
motivating lift (Ehrhart, Schneider, & Perry, 2011). The company has a practice of encouraging
the best instead of discouraging the worst. It engages employees in positive talks and encourages
the virtuous behavior than discouraging the unethical behavior. This is done by placing the lines
like “Our company regards employee who honestly and consistently invest their effort in our
asset” on the wall of the company.

"What is My Level of PsyCap" self-assessment"
My strategy to advance my career will involve in getting a mentor, discussing my fears
with him, goal setting and monitoring them. It will involve picking skills which are going to help
me progress in my career and training myself to dropping habits which creates negative
momentum to achieve: procrastination, avoiding people, taking snap judgments etc.
Goal Setting helps in evaluating a person to set his goals and on a consistent basis tracks his
performance against these goals. Without goal setting, it is always difficult to measure one's
performance. The mere setting of goals makes an individual to sit and take notice. Without
setting any goals for yourself, one can fast go into the path of poor performance and mediocrity.
Goal setting involves five SMART principles: Simple, measurable achievable, relatable and
time-bound. The goals should be simple ( so that it can be referred to again and again, easy to
recall), measurable( unless it is measurable, no progress can be made. I want to improve my
communication skills is a laudable goal. However, when we make it executable ( I am going to
talk to two different new people every day), the progress will be much faster), achievable( Goals
which are neither too difficult nor too easy has a maximum chance of attainment. The goals
should be realistic), relevant ( it should be relevant to the task at the hand. If I have to improve
my communication ability, practicing Sudoku is not going to help) and time bound ( there has to
be a timeline to achieve the results. Open ended results are not goin...
