What are the charges? The charges for the crimes that Jesse Jackson Jr. and his wife Sandi Jackson committed was Sandi Jackson was sentenced to a year in prison for filing false tax returns in connection with the misuse of her husband’s campaign funds, a crime she pleaded guilty to in February. Jesse L. Jackson Jr. was sentenced to 30 months in prison, one count of conspiracy and committed false statements, mail fraud and wire fraud in the misuse of approximately $750,000 in campaign funds How was the crimes uncovered? The crime was uncovered by Jesse’s campaign money for almost 5 years they were living off it. They were buying expensive things far as furniture, clothes, jewelry and etc. What is the evidence against them? The evidence against the Jackson’s used campaign funds to buy a $43,350 gold Rolex watch along with almost $10,000 in children’s furniture that he had delivered to his home in the District. Among other allegations, prosecutors say Jackson made direct expenditures of about $57,793 from the campaign’s accounts for personal expenses. The documents say he and a co-conspirator used a campaign credit card to make $582,773 worth of purchases for their own use. Was there a plea trial or are the waiting trial? Yes, there was a plea deal that Jesse and Sandi Jackson took. They both pleaded guilty to all charges that was brought against them. Meaning Jesse will get 46 to 57 months in prison and Sandi had received a year and a day for her actions. Did they stay in office, step down from the position, or were they removed from the office? Jackson resigned from Congress in November 2012, He said he was being treated for bipolar disorder, a condition that he asked the court to take into account in his sentencing.
