In the footsteps of Crazy Horse is a story by John Marshall about an eleven-year boy,
Jimmy McLean who is half a Lakota, with blue eyes, brown hair, and light skin. These features
make him different from other children who are Lakota’s with darker coloring black hair and
brown eyes, and as a result, they tease him because of his appearance, calling him names that he
isn’t a real Lakota. To help him out of this mess, his grandfather, Nyles High Eagle, invites him
along to a road trip that will surely transform his life. (Marshall 1)
