Description

Hi there,

I want someone to write me Annotated Bibliography. This Annotated Bibliography will be used later to write a research paper.

I will attache the Annotated Bibliography instruction which you have to read carefully because there is a minimum number of sources that you have to use while writing it. Also, I will include a Annotated Bibliography sample.

Since this Annotated Bibliography will be used later for the research, I will attach the research instruction so you have a good idea of what kind of sources you have to choose.

The topic I am going to talk about in the research is Zombies.

( Don't write the research now, I will make another question later)

So please read the instructions and take a look at the sample attached. Thanks

Annotated Bibliography To really get started in depth on the research project, you will write an annotated bibliography. The annotated bibliography, a common academic assignment, will advance you along in the research process and will require you to find, read, and analyze several sources. An annotated bibliography presents a list of citations for books, articles, and documents. Each citation is followed by a descriptive and evaluative annotation, the purpose of which is to inform the reader of the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources cited. For this assignment you must find a minimum of five acceptable sources. Do not limit your sources unnecessarily. If you find more than five sources, feel free to include them. When writing your annotated bibliography, you should follow these steps: • For starters, you need to go to the library or its databases and find several sources to help you write about your topic. Make sure that your sources are reliable and acceptable. Stay away from sources such as popular magazines and general encyclopedia articles. At first you should limit yourself to essays in collections, chapters in books, journal articles, and other relatively short sources. Try to choose works that provide a variety of perspectives on your topic. Do NOT rely on interne sources. If you have any questions about the acceptability of a source, ask me. • When you have several sources, you will need to write a correct MLA Works Cited entry for each source. If you have any questions about the proper form for an entry, refer to the pages in Rules for Writers which provide examples of MLA Works Cited entries. As always, you are welcome to ask me if you have further questions. Be sure to alphabetize your entries for the Works Cited page, but do not number your entries. • After you have completed the bibliographic entry, read the source and annotate it as if you were going to write a short summary of the source (because you are), picking out the thesis, important ideas, and key items. • Follow the standard guidelines for margins, double-spacing, font, and general format. Your title line should read: Annotated Bibliography for Research Paper. As always, you should not put your title in quotation marks or bold type, nor should you underline your title. • Start with your first source in alphabetical order. Type the works cited entry for the source in the proper format with all of the necessary information and then begin your annotation. o The first part of the annotation should be a brief summary of the source based upon the thesis, main ideas, and key terms. What is the main argument? o The second part of the annotation should be an assessment of the source discussing its suitability as an academic source and its applicability to your research and project. Consider the author's purpose and reliability, including some information about who the author is and why he or she is reputable. Is the source objective or biased? Is it useful? o The last part of the annotation will be your reflection on the source. Consider how it fits in with your research. How helpful is the source? How do you see it fitting in with your project? How has it informed or otherwise changed or shaped your ideas? You should discuss how the source relates to some of your other sources. • Be sure to follow all of the rules of grammar and punctuation that apply to formal writing just as you would with any paper. Follow the same procedure for each of your sources. You should have an annotated works cited entry for each source. As with any paper, revise, edit, and proofread your annotated bibliography. Edit for content and then for grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Keep in mind that for this assignment every detail is extremely important, so proofread carefully. Every period and comma counts. Your format should be exact. xxxxxx 1 xxxxxx xxxxxxxx xxxxx xxxxxxx Annotated Bibliography for Research Paper Auerbach, Nina. “Who Are the Dead?” Journal of the Fantastic in the Arts 11.1 (41) (2000): 8-13. Web. 29 Mar. 2016 Nina’s article discusses and compares the roles of ghosts in literature and film next to real life ghosts. She explains that ghosts in writing have more purpose and have a mission to accomplish which makes them interesting to the readers. However, ghosts of real life are just tragedies because they cannot move on and are stuck in a dull plane of existence forever. Hamlet and The Sixth Sense are just two examples she uses to back her argument. Nina Auerbach is the John Welsh Centennial Professor of English Emerita at the University of Pennsylvania. She specializes in nineteenth-century English literature and has published, lectured, and reviewed works in horror fiction. Nina’s article seems reliable because it provides insight on how some people believe that ghosts are tragically stuck on Earth with the living. Though her article contradicts certain aspects of my paper it is still useful. Nina provides view points and definitions on ghosts that can benefit my paper. I will be able to use this article and argue against her saying that ghosts do have goals still on Earth even if they are not living. One example would be Chloe at Myrtle Plantation and the sadness surrounding her story and those connected to her. xxxxxx 2 Louisiana Historic Preservation National Register of Historic Places Databases. Web. 29 Mar. 2016 This database has a list of all historic buildings and properties within Louisiana. Myrtles Plantation is one listed in the database and provided pictures and sketches of the property and a brief description of the house and ownership. The information on the plantation describes the structure of the main house and when each addition to the place was made. Also the database gives a summary of every owner and the length of time that each person had ownership of the plantation leading up to 1894. The information from this database will benefit my paper because it gives me details on the structure and layout of the mansion. The most helpful information I found to be was the ownership. From General Bradford buying the property and building the plantation throughout his lineage till 1894 is provided on the database. Phillips, Ulrich B. “Plantation Life.” America Negro Slavery. Baton Rouge: Louisiana State University Press, 1966. 309-330. Print. Phillips’ book discusses the influence and need of slavery in certain regions of the United States. The beginning details events and reasons for having African Americans as a valuable source of labor. Then he continues on with depending on the region what crop is most popular and how slaves can be beneficial to making profit. Similar to what crop is harvested where determines the type and layout of plantations. How the slaves lived, worked, and were punished xxxxxx 3 on the plantations is also included. Finally Phillips discusses slaves from an economic standpoint and how they influence trade and the economy. Ulrich B. Phillips was an American historian who largely defined the field of social and economic history of the antebellum American South and slavery. He concentrated mainly on large plantations and less on the small houses where few slaves worked. Phillips’ observations of slavery in the South make him a useful source for my paper because he provides information about how slaves could have been treated during that time and what their work and living environment was like. His book, specifically certain chapters, will be able to add credibility to my paper. Given that the topic is about the haunting of the Myrtles Plantation it would be suitable to use Phillips’ book to provide details about plantation life. Some points attained from Phillip that could be helpful are how plantations are set up and the daily life of the slaves. Webb, Julie Y. “Louisiana Voodoo and Superstitions Related to Health.” HSMHA Health Reports 86.4 (1971): 291-301. Web. 26 Mar. 2016 Webb’s article gives a brief history of where voodoo is from and how it came to be an influence in Louisiana. Voodoo relates to practice of medicine and ensuring the health of patients. Webb performed a study in four parishes to see if and what superstitions the patients and nursing staff thought to be true. She closes her article by explaining that voodoo practices are still existing even today in parishes of Southern Louisiana. When Julie Yvonne Webb wrote this article it was as part of her thesis to get her masters. Webb was working on getting her doctorate in public health at Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine when her article was published. Julie’s article is suitable xxxxxx 4 for my paper since it describes the voodoo beliefs and practices most African American slaves in Louisiana held. Evidence has been found at Myrtles Plantation that the slaves practiced voodoo in the hopes of curing diseases and ailments while also putting curses on their enemies. One story widely known about at Myrtles Plantation is the voodoo priestess Chloe and her death there which is a good reason to use this article to further describe the influence of voodoo practices in Louisiana. Research: For the research project, you will propose your own topics related to our overall course topic of monsters. We will be broadly defining monsters in our discussions, so you have a fair amount of latitude with this paper. As a jumping off point, consider a monster or something that frightened or fascinated you as a child—or now, for that matter. You may choose to examine the history and evolution of a myth or legend or how a monster has changed and developed over time. There are other ways to approach this project as well. You may also be interested in exploring another culture's monsters. In your research and writing process, consider the cultural relevance, impact, and context of the monster(s) you are considering. You might also wish to explore the science behind the monster or the fear as well as scientific/rational explanations for myths. Be creative and try to find something that will keep you engaged. You will research your topic, synthesize the information that you gather, and present it to your audience in the form of a scholarly essay. As always, I am more than happy to discuss ideas with you and to answer questions. In case you are stuck and don't have any ideas, there is a list of monsters that you might consider at the end of the assignment. Keep in mind that this paper should not simply be a biography or a "report" about what a particular monster is. Examine what the monsters say about the cultures from which they come and about humanity—our fears, etc. Use this as a chance to do some cultural and personal exploration as well. Consider your audience for this paper (an audience that is NOT ME). Who else would be interested in your topic? How much might they already know? Formulate a research question to help you focus the paper and your research efforts. The thesis will present the answer to your question(s). Please note the following: 1. All papers must have at least five external sources. Please rely on scholarly sources (journal articles, chapters in books, etc.). If you have at least two external academic sources, you may include sources that you retrieve from reliable sources that would not traditionally be defined as academic. It might be worthwhile to discuss these with me. 2. Your paper should use MLA-style parenthetical citations and a Works Cited page. Guidelines for this type of formatting can be found in your Rules for Writers text. 3. Please type your essay, using double-spacing and leaving 1" margins on each side of the page. 4. Your paper should have a title and an introductory paragraph that promote interest. 5. Your paper should contain a clearly stated thesis and an essay map that gives the reader a sense of the key points you will address and how your essay will be organized. 6. You should provide adequate support for all claims about the focal issue and/or the status of knowledge on the focal issue. 7. Make sure that the paper has a logical organization aided by effective transitions (between sentences, paragraphs, and sections). 8. Your paper should demonstrate thorough, accurate, and stylistically effective attributio n of source material. As with any writing assignment, the structure and clarity of your work is as important as the content. A clear thesis, well-developed paragraphs, and a meaningful conclusion will be a part of any successful paper. Some possible topics/monsters to research: (I chose Zombies) Demons, Dragons, Incubus, Ogopogo, Succubus, Windigo, Devil, Chupacabra, Werewolves/lycanthropes, Chimera, Vampires, Yeti, Zombies, Kraken, Serial killers, Ghosts, Sea monsters, Harpies, Aliens, Oni, Necromancers, Skinwalkers, Sidhe, Alien abduction, Basilisk, Demonic possession, Ogres, Fairies, Ores, Lamia, Centaurs, Satyrs, Sorcerers, Witches, Poltergeists, Haunting—types, specific one, etc. You are welcome to start with a culture and do some digging into their monsters. You might also consider different groups that have been classified as "other" throughout history and how they have been demonized or seen as monsters. Think about problems affecting the world today that could be classified as monstrous.
