What is the treatment of this problem? How common is it? Etc… Summary: Include discussion of what more need to be done in future studies, its causes, or treatment. Papers must be neatly types. Use full sentences, correct spelling and grammar. Be thorough in addressing the topic. The main point of the paper is to provide another means of demonstrating your knowledge of concepts in physiology. Include references! From where did you get your information? You may use textbooks and scientific research journals as references (not just information from web pages on the Internet, newspapers, or Cosmopolitan!), Cite references in text by author and date (i.e., Campbell et al., 2004). Reference format (examples): Journal article: Barnstorm M, Woessner JF. Inhibitors of mammalian tissue collagenase. Endocrinology 2003; 122: 1715-1721. Chapter in book: Sokol RR, Rohlf FJ. Biometry. New York: WH Freeman and Co: 1981:253-261. You need to use at least five journal articles. You may substitute one book source for one journal article. The paper should be ab 5 pages. Grading: 1) Correct spelling, grammar, and sentence structure. 2) Clarity of writing (can I understand what you are trying to say?) 3) Demonstration of logical and critical thought 4) Demonstration of thorough research on and understanding of the topic.

Introduction
Alzheimer’s disease is simply a neurodegenerative disease that is chronic in nature that
starts in a slow manner and worsens as time goes by (Verwey, 2008). In recent times, there has
been rapid growth with regard to the total number of people who are infected with Alzheimer’s
disease. However, its only one in four people with this diseases that end up being diagnosed. It is
estimated that, currently all over the world around 44 million people live with this disease. In the
United States, the estimated number of people living with Alzheimer’s disease are equal to 5.5
million people. The biggest percentage of those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease in the U.S
are aged 65 years and above. They are estimated to be around 5.3 million. Additionally, with
regard to gender, around 3.3 million people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease in the United
States are women while 2 million are men (Alzheimer's disease, 2011).
Understanding the physiology of Alzheimer's disease is of essence considering the fact
that the prevalence of this disease has been predicted to rapidly increase in future. This is
attributed to the fact that, the disease is not easily diagnosed until it has reached its latter stages.
For this reason, it is of the essence to ensure that the physiology of this disease is understood so
as to increase the chances of early detection as well as interventions in patients (Alzheimer's
disease, 2011).
Background
Unlike most people’s belief that Alzheimer's disease is only present in older people, the
disease also affects young as well. This disease is as a result of the increase in plasma
Osmolality. Plasma Osmolality is brought about by the reduction in sodium intake as well as
excessive consumption of animal-based proteins. Whenever the human body is exposed to a diet
with high levels of animal-based protein throughout one's life, the body gradually ends up losing
