Question 1: Discuss the need and significance of the US Courts of Appeal.
Significance and need of the courts of appeal

In the US, the judicial and criminal justice system comprises a spectrum of courts that all
perform their differentiated tasks. The same case applies to the other countries across the globe
that exercise democracy. The court of appeal stands out as one of the most common entities
within the criminal and judicial systems in the various countries such as the US. The court of
appeal hears and decides cases that result from any forms of discontentment from the lower
district facilities (Wright& Kane,2016). In the US, the population considers the court of appeals
as the most powerful of all in the entire judicial system. The most probable reason behind this
notion comes from the fact that the courts of appeal decide cases that cover millions of people
within the country. Also, the supreme court may not hear all the federal cases that may arise in
the course of operations. As a result, they in most cases delegate these tasks to the courts of
appeal. This delegation makes the courts of appealing the most powerful and in addition to
power, influential of the various policies that revolve around the legal elements in the US. In the
US, the distribution of the court of appeals follows the various districts. Subsequently, this
means that in the 94 districts available in the US, they form a cluster of 12 regions often regarded
as small districts. Each of these circuits contains a single court of appeals that performs the
relevant tasks of reviewing the previously determined cases.
The primary significance of the existence of the court of appeals in the US comes from
the need and desire to offer a chance to listen and determine the previously decided cases in the
lower systems. The court of appeals, in this case, may determine the cases previously decided in

the lower judicial systems such as the district establishments among many others. Although the
supreme court acts as the final decision, sometimes it may delegate some of the cases to the
immediate junior establishment for trial. Most of the times, some decisions made in the lower
courts within the various districts may not offer a fair or common ground for the different
participants (Howard,2014). As a result, the jury may offer their decisions but fail to provide the
required form and level of satisfaction to either the two or a single participant. In such a case, the
party that feels that the decision did not meet the desired criteria o9r failed to take into account
the needs of each participant may file an appeal. The court of appeals, in this case, acts as the
party that reviews the previously determined cases in the attempt to come up with a better
decision that serves justice and also offers the required level of satisfaction amongst the
participants.
