Nuremberg Code and the Declaration of Helsinki
The Nuremberg Code is a group of research ethics values for human testing set as an
outcome of the successive Nuremberg judgments at the end of the World War 2 (United States
Holocaust Memorial Museum). The source of the Nuremberg Code started in the pre-World War
II German politics, specifically on the 1930s and the year 1940s (United States Holocaust
Memorial Museum). The pre-war German Medical group was regarded to be a reformist yet
democratic group having large concerns for the public health, one instance being legislation of
obligatory health cover for German workforces.
Although, beginning in the mid-1920s, the German medical specialists, normally
proponents of the racial hygiene were accused by the public and the medical community of the
unethical medical activities (United States Holocaust Memorial Museum). The application of
racial hygiene was backed by the Germany administration in order to form an Aryan "master
race," and to exterminate the ones who failed to fit into their criteria. Racial hygiene rebels
merged with the National Socialism to enhance the application of biology to achieve their
