JOHN BROWN’S LEGACY
2
There are many injustices in the society today which are heinous. One of them being
child labor. Many business people in the society today prefer hiring children and pay them little
money so that they can make more profits. The above drawing shows employers and how they
exploit children when they employ them for their personal gain. Child labor is against the rights
of children and is therefore considered as the oppression of human rights. The legacy of John
Brown lies within the millions of individuals who have sacrificed their lives to fight against
human oppression, against the ultimate crimes of mistreatment and against the crushing schemes
of stratification. John Brown was distinguished by his ideas and principles. He believed in the
fight for liberation. Child labor, on the other hand, is unsafe for children since it obstructs their

education and development. It is the same as child slavery since employers employ children for
their personal gain. This was the same thing that John Brown was trying to stop, Slavery. Maybe
or maybe not slavery might have been terminated through mass non-violent disobedience, but
most people feared that it might be too hard to be overthrown. Brown, on the other hand, decided
that rebellion would have worked better than just words. He believed that it would loosen the
roots of slavery. Besides child labor being considered an injustice in the society today, it still
exists in most parts of the world. It should also be terminated by all means possible because it is
against human rights.

Malcom X was a great civil; activist at the time when black Americans were being
brutally racially abused. He rose up from a life of struggle and hardship to become a great
advocate for equal human rights. Having lost both parents at an early age, he had to grow up
in foster homes. He even was convicted and served a sentence in prison but this is where he
discovered his role in society. Coming out as a vibrant leader of the Nation of Islam where he
used his position to advocate to equal rights. Moreover, he was a successful leader in that he
was able to increase awareness and membership for Nation of Islam in the years he served in
power. He is also regarded as a voice of change and one that advocated for the end of racism
alongside Martin Luther King. At the time, he was seen as a hero.
However, after doing research on him, there are some things that discredit his achievement.
For instance, he advocated for violence in fighting for equal rights. In this manner, he only
instigated the problem because the government only used this to increase their oppression no
the black community. He was also not well founded in his fight for equal rights. While under
the Nation of Islam, after years in the organization he released that they did not side with his
cause for equality and he left the group. Afterwards he switched into different group that had
different beliefs before he was finally executed. Furthermore, he had a criminal past showing
that he was vulnerable to making mistakes that could lead to incarceration (History.com).

Malcom X was like a candle. On his day, he could inspire many others to follow his cause.
The same way we can use on candle to light others in the midst of darkness. He was that kind
of a character, whose eloquence influenced even the whites that listened to his speeches. A
candle is used as a symbol of hope in the event of a tragedy. Candles have significance in that
they are lit for such occasions to express hope that better days are ahead. However, if the
candle is not shielded from the wind, its flame can be swayed by the wind or even blown out.
Moreover, the candle can also be used to create a large fire that can burn a whole city. Its
flame is strong enough to burn through any piece of paper or clothing. In most of his
speeches, he had the ability to break the segregation created during the time and show the
need to quality among the people (Melt).
Nonetheless, Malcom X was swayed into different organizations when he lost his footing in
the Nation of Islam. He changed different groups and also a bit of his religion. This affected
the strength of his flame and affected his reach on the people in a way he could inspire their

because once light comes into a dark room, change is inevitable.

Vietnam War

The Vietnam War
The Vietnam War was a prolonged military fight that resulted from the anti-colonial
battle against the French empire. It leads to the establishment of a cold war intervention between
the free market equality and international communism. The Vietnam War dominated in the news
and media headlines in the year 1963 to 1975. Vietnam was the most notorious in the frontline
of the cold war. The war was caused by some reasons that attracted the involvement of the U.S.
The main reason for the war was about the communism. The communists were considered as
enemies of democracy by the U.S government. They were also recognized as people who
violated human rights, and they created several state economies which boycotted trade with
capitalist countries. Therefore communist was declared as a contagious disease by the Americans
(Gonzales, 2013).
The wars brought diverse effects to the American people and people of Vietnam. The
military abused their power to force some people to go to Vietnam to fight for their country.
Though there were some volunteers, the media was much biased because it only portrayed
characters that were willing to serve their country (Smith, 2016). Furthermore, drug and alcohol
abuse was seen throughout the wars. It is an apparent indication of the hell of a life that the
soldiers were living through. It leads to the psychological damage of the military forces. In
1965, the American government authorized a series of bombing where Operation Rolling was the
most notable one (Smith, 2016).
The war was very costly to the American community. It brought up a different view and
picture on how we viewed the government, our rights and to the media for giving and circulating
biased information. Due to this shift and change in perspective, the country was destroyed and
torn apart hence reducing the kind of trust we had for the government (Gonzales, 2013).
A poem about the Vietnam War
Looking down, what I see are moving feet, calmly, merrily,
As if the feet are separated from their bodies,
I can see moving objects just beyond what your eyes can see
Boats covered with ammunition are moving downstream in the night,
No one can prevent its flow, they flow like shadows, with the aim of killing the Vietnams
America shatters
Too many metals on the ground and weapons underbrush,
We do not respect our own
We are celebrating our victory at the self-abasement
Like a guy in the Syrian Desert, while dull ashes on his head,
We initiate war like a man trying to anoint himself
The disaster of are living with us, caught in a chest, troubled in our minds like pebbles
The feeling of the war is the same as fresh dough,
The view was just balled into the formless swellings; they have to go through it, the same war
In the rains of winter, I hear a sound
Filled with anger, stiffened by the cold wind, from the north
They must be exhausted, the army ghosts, no food can sustain them
Their bodies lie in the rains, rusting in the rain,
Reluctant to dissolve into the earth, their skulls shine, ooh our fallen soldiers,
Nobody can save you fellas
I see them traveling home, after a greasy war, crying weak and lust and cannot stand the dark,
The economy in Viet is falling, people dying of hunger,
Who will rebuild the country it is already down?
Decades will be required for it to make a comeback,
The same war
