Different people may have different ideas about why teaching children is of significance
to them. However, no matter the perspective from each, the end result is the same. It is important
to acknowledge the fact that teaching young children is challenging, but a highly rewarding
opportunity and those involved will attest to the satisfaction that is experienced knowing that
they are laying the foundation for the futures of the young children. The first teacher or person
that a young child meets is the one that sets the bar for learning. They are in the position to instill
a love for school, but it is also very possible for them to foster feelings of negativity in young
children if they are not careful. Young children need an environment where they would feel well
cared for and safe. In this paper, we shall talk about why am interested in teaching young
children, the importance of NAEYC to early childhood practice, explain what DAP is and the
code of ethical conduct as well as a statement of commitment.
Teaching Young Children
Being around young children is a wonderful opportunity. I really do love the energy as
well as excitement displayed by children. In an environment where children surround one, there
exists a feeling of exhilaration that cannot be experienced in many other environments. The first
discovered thing is that children love to learn (Anderson, et all., 2004). These young children are
always looking forward to witnessing and experiencing new things, even if it is school related
