What is the most important thing when planning and scheduling sporting events?
Event planning can get daunting, and any mistake at any stage can attract not only
monetary loses but also damage the brand. Thus, planners often make use of a strategic
checklist which guides them through the process. The most important thing is to have
everything right before any preparations are done.
The purpose of the event must be conceived well and right. Holding an athletic event
is interesting and most people would rush to it without a second thought. However, all events
must have a clear mission. It is to celebrate some achievement or to raise funds for a certain
course? Is it to fun, or to publicity? The purpose must be agreed upon before anything is
done. After that, think about the participants. What do they stand to benefit? Where are they?
Why are they participating? After getting these answers then one may consider sending the
word out.
