Individual responsibilities in a courtroom
Prosecutor
A prosecutor is a lawyer who represents the plaintiff in a lawsuit against the parties
charged with violating state laws. Prosecutors are called State Attorneys in Illinois while in other
states they are called district attorneys. The prosecutor should not be overzealous because he
could lead to overly harsh punishment. On the other hand, an underperforming prosecutor could
lead to a guilty person not being held accountable for their wrongdoing. In both outcomes,
justice will not be served, and the public will lose faith in the court (Bennet, 2014).
