Drug Abuse
Introduction
Drug abuse is the inappropriate use of stimulants mostly drugs. These stimulants could
either be legal or illegal in the country of use. But if they are inappropriately used then the action
becomes abuse. This means that if the substances are a prescription by healthcare officers and the
user does not follow the instructions of the specialist, then they end up abusing the drug. It could
be a case of under-dosage or overdosage. There are risk factors that relate to victims of this
group who are high-risk offenders. Such cases include people who have been sexually abused.
The article discusses how to deal with the factors that contribute to the crimes caused by the
offenders as written by Abracen, J., & Looman, J. (2016). The writers give an example that
alcohol use increases the chances of doing a sexual offense. The use of illegal drugs such as
cocaine, heroin, and marijuana is also considered drug abuse. These drugs are used by people to
stimulate themselves but the negative effects to their body are far worse than the comfort that
they are trying to achieve. Another form of drug abuse is the use of certain stimulants found in
beverages and other foodstuffs that are not illegal or medicines prescribed by healthcare
specialists such drugs include caffeine as found in some common drinks such as tea. The
uncontrolled use of caffeine can be addictives and causes muscle fatigue and headaches. The aim
of this paper is to discuss drug abuse in depth by identifying key problems related to drug abuse,
show why the drug abuse should be checked through controlling the vice, and provide some of
the best ways to control drug abuse in an effort to form a healthy and sober society.
