Description
Essay Planning Pages Assignment
For each Essay Assignment three (3) different types of planning pages are required: (1) an MLA formatted Essay Outline,(2) 3 Source Summaries, and (3)an MLA Works Cited Page; all planning pages must be completed according to the provided guidelines, as briefly noted here (for detailed instructions, please review the Planning Pages lecture, and/or the examples provided). The essay planning pages are not optional; they are an assignment requirement. The following requirements apply:
The Essay Outline (OL) must be in MLA format; must contain a clear, well-developed thesis statement; all components listed on the format example (including identification of the “intended audience”); full topic sentences; and a cataloguing of support types and sources to be used in the essay;
Three (3) Source Summaries (SS) are required, and these may be submitted as one document, with three clear sections containing all of the required information; each SS must begin with a citation, followed by the inclusion of all information to be borrowed from that source and used in the essay; quotes must be placed within quotation marks, and paraphrased info must be noted as such; following each instance of borrowed information, a description of how and where the information is to be used in the essay should be included, along with an explanation of how the borrowed information supports the development of your thesis/main points; all borrowed information must come from secondary support sources (those works addressing some aspect of your writer’s work or life), and must be academic and scholarly in nature (use of library resources and databases is required);
The Works Cited (WC) page must contain MLA citation of all sources used in the planning and drafting of the essay; sources are to be in alphabetical order by author’s last name, and should follow MLA guidelines (see links in course and library resources) .
There are no revisions on any portion of the FINAL
Submission: Please be sure to submit Planning Pages as Microsoft Word or Open Office attachments. Planning pages typed into the submission box will receive a score of ZERO.
